I know not everyone loves the cold, but let me just say that when the weather is just right, it can make for some BEAUTIFUL photos!
I was checking my weather app ALL week for Ithaca, New York before the Emily and Brandon’s engagement session! Finally, the day of, I noticed that the weather said there would be “light snow” in the afternoon. I got really excited and told my assistant that the session might just be as magical as I was hoping, and let Emily and Brandon know that they might’ve just gotten lucky with some light snow.
After driving around, we stopped at a frozen lake to take some wide, natural photos. Let me tell you, it was COLD. Emily and Brandon are super fun and were champs – we took a lot of photos of Brandon giving Emily hugs so that they both could just warm up!
I always try to play some sort of game in the beginning to loosen the couple up and make sure they feel comfortable in front of the camera, especially when it’s their first time in front of the camera! After loosening them up, we proceeded the rest of the time having fun, letting them share in quiet moments, and figuring out where the best light was to get some extremely fun photos.
At the very end, my assistant helped us make some “extra” snowfall that made for a beautiful picture at the end (which I put here in the beginning).
Emily and Brandon’s wedding is in March, and I cannot WAIT to take photos for them again and share in such a special moment with them.
